The Parti Québecois, the political party seeking Quebec independence, elected André Boisclair as their new leader, a 39 years old professional politician. I don’t normally comment politics, but André Boisclair is interesting for a few reasons. For one thing, he has a blog though people question whether he actually writes it. He holds a master from the John F. Kennedy School (Harvard U.). Also, he is gay though it is not clear whether he is gay-friendly. Lastly, he freely admitted having used C17H21NO4 while being a minister. Despite most journalists and so-called experts siding againts him, he won. This is a case where having too many things against you turns in your favor.

It will be interesting whether Quebec elects him prime minister. Note that a colleague of mine, Gilbert Paquette ran against him. My collective agreement says I can seek political mandates and still keep my job.

(Before you ask, no, I’m not a member of the Parti Québécois.)
