Honesty is charisma. Whenever you are honest, even if you are controversial, many people will respond positively to you.

  1. Honesty plus openness is charisma. Quiet honesty is not enough. I’m only recently starting to understand this.

  2. When Obama was running for president I (frequently) heard news reports which indicated that Obama’s use of language was correlated with more “deceitfulness” (e.g. usage of “we” rather than “I” and certain usages of tense and adjectives) than Clinton. I rather doubt the credibility of the science behind that claim, actually, but if it *were* true and we agree that Obama is charismatic, then there’s at least one data point that contradicts this.

Also – surely you can be honest and despicable.

Example: duo plus septem is '9'. The numbers are expressed in latin numerals but you should give your answers using ordinary digits.
